I have a question

For those of you who have boys.......

W has been going to the potty sporatically and if I stick to it, of course he does better. Right now whenever I take him to the potty, I sit him down for everything. When would be a good time to introduce the standing position to tee tee? Did any of you sit your boys down for everything at first? Am I messing up?

OBVIOUSLY i don't have boys, but a friend of mine (whose son is in mary peyton's class) is in potty training mode, too. i know that he stands up - and i know that they started the potty training the same weekend we did - so only about a week or two ago.

not that this helps a lot, but there it is!

We started Reid sitting down also. It wasn't until he started going to full-time daycare that he started standing b/c he saw the other boys going like that. He was about 2 1/2. I would keep letting him sit until he's pretty consistent with going in the potty then you can try putting fruit loops or cheerios in the water for him to aim at. That will turn it into a little game for him and he'll want to keep standing when he goes. Hope this helps...it worked for Reid.
Hope you had a great weekend with all of the activities going on.
Love you,
Kristina

I don't think you are messing up. My son learned to tee-tee standing up outside before he was 2, although it may be a bit cold right now for you to do that. He'd sit while going inside. My son is almost 5 now and he will go standing up or sitting down whatever he feels like at the time. Don't stress about it. Just do what feels right. God bless!
